IC INFORMATION
Characters Name: Arthur Kirkland “England”
Age: 23 [in appearance; he's really like over 900-some odd years old]
Canon: Axis Powers Hetalia
Canon Point: Modern day Oct.2012
Species: Personification of a Nation
Gender: Male
Orientation: It’s never been precisely been clarified in canon what he is in terms of a set sexuality, but most nations seem to view things very openly? He’s never seemed to be on either side, so i’d like to say he’s very much bisexual. He’s a bit of a romanticist, so i’m sure whomever he falls in love with could be either gender and it wouldn’t entirely matter to him.

History: The country | Arthur Kirkland
Appearance: w/ France, goin’ solo & a more casual look
Personality: For being a country, England should be the perfect image of a gentleman, and for what it’s worth, he tries to present himself being as such, when in reality it’s quite different.

He’s very sharp-tongued and always has an insult to those he dislikes, and it stems a bit from how he’s fairly socially inept and doesn’t always find the right way to come across to people, which usually leads people to misunderstand him. This also leads into how sometimes he can seem very petty and childish, always wanting to get revenge on his enemies, like trying to summon demons on America –but somehow always summoning Russia instead – no matter what the cost. He even tends to think he’s sneaky when really is the most obvious, and when the wrong things are said to him, England tends to blow up in people’s face. As it stands, the one he seems to have a long-standing rivalry with, has to be France, as they have not gotten along since England was still a young nation and things haven’t gotten any better over the years. Tends to call him ‘frog’ and is never short of an insult in that man’s direction, and if there’s a fight/war going on, if it’s against France, he’s all in for it if he can kick the man’s ass. Not that it doesn’t mean that they don’t have some level of respect for each other, as England WILL fight with him if it comes to it, really.

England also seems continually bitter and angry toward America as well but it’s less out of anger but more out of sadness and heartbreak rather than anything else. It’s because of the Revolutionary War, when America fought against him with a want to become his own country. The memory of that day put the rift between them which is why they fight, argue and disagree now, when he had been the one to raise America as a young nation all that time ago, but these memories only come up whenever England gets really drunk, which happens more around July Fourth more than ever.

Back in the day, he used to be a pirate and had it all, even conquered Spain, and now is more of a cynical, rough-edged man who sometimes acts older than he looks. Which doesn’t help as he is a man of class who enjoys embroidery, books, rock music, you name it. He’s also most notably an awful cook, never able to cook anything right which lead to America to have ‘bad’ taste in food, all these years, but it doesn’t dishearten him, vowing to always get better so the others will have to stop saying the bad things about it. England also does have a strange quirk about him that makes him a bit ‘weird’ in the eyes of the other nations, in his belief of all things magical, like fairies, spirits, and what goes with this is that a few of his fantasy friends are a flying bunny, unicorn, fairies, gnomes and even Captain Hook, even though nobody else sees them. It’s not just limited to them, though, as he can also see demons and spirits from Japanese culture, like the Kappa/Water Sprite that he once saw at Japan’s. He can communicate with them on top of this, as well.

Though even with all of this and how rough around the edges England can seem even to the day, he does still care for people. Sealand being a good example, as despite he bickers with the boy about him being recognized as a real nation, he does look out for him as in a way he is still family.

Old as he is, the point does come back that he can get rather dejected easily and has a bad habit of being very self-depreciating at times, if not ‘tsundere’ as most might call it. This showing when it was thought for Japan to have went and became friends with Russia instead of him, England left feeling worthless and kicked aside until Japan came and rectified the situation. He’s also a bit hasty in the sense that once he thinks he has an upper hand, he uses it without fail and doesn’t entirely think about who he steps on when he does it, and sometimes he’s been known to shamelessly use whatever means he can to get rid of his enemies. Such as bartering with pirates to get them to leave him alone and go bother Spain during the 1500’s and all.

Despite everything, England tends to get rather embarrassed with anything dirty coming up and gets flustered rather easily. Even if his country has come out with the most erotic sexual education stuff in compared to some of the other countries, it won’t change anything in his embarrassment levels.

While being a gentleman, when he does get really drunk, his personality shifts and he tends to dress up in a toga with a halo, wings and a star-shaped little wand. Becoming what has been dubbed the ‘Britannian Angel’ who casts miracles, in way of using magic to help others, but mostly using it for turning people younger or older, more or less. He gets dejected if someone doesn’t want his help but can instantly brighten up if there’s any hope or way he really can help, honestly. Outside of this, he can sometimes turn into a violent delinquent depending on things, so it really would be smarter to keep him from anything alcohol related.

He’s also rather forgetful; scatter-brained even. Leaving things behind and forgetting about them quite frequently.

Abilities: Like any of the other nations, England has that durability of being not only stronger than the average human but he can’t be killed like them either, unless something happens to his government or his people. He also can use a bit of magic as well, so far seen mostly when he’s in his ‘Britannian Angel’ guise and when he’s tried to use spells to summon the devil Russia against his foes.

Third Person:

It was entirely too quiet when England opened his eyes; which under normal circumstances shouldn’t be of any alarm but he was fairly sure he didn’t fall asleep in something like a lawn chair.

“What in bloody hell is going on?!” The words were all but hissed out as he stood up from the chair and looked around his surroundings; surely this had to be some kind of a stupid joke. It would be different if he’d gone out and possibly gotten drunk or something the night before, but he KNEW he’d remember going out at all, and considering he remembered clearly going to bed after doing some embroidery last night, that wasn’t the case in the least.

“Keep calm, Kirkland. There has to be a damn explanation for this...”

Such was muttered half to himself, turning to look at the house behind him and the envelope plastered to the door with his name on it. Yes. This definitely had to be someone’s stupid idea of a joke. America thought he was funny by pulling practical jokes on him or just being an idiot because he thought it would be funny to ‘get a rise’ out of him. Running fingers through his hair irritably, he stormed up to the house and snatched the envelope off of it, but then it did hit him. Having lived with America as long as he had, he’d recognize the other nation’s writing, and this was too neat; too proper to be his writing. Couldn’t even be France’s either as the sod had a tendency to overdo everything.

At least that was how he saw it.

It took barely a moment for the Englishman to go through the papers inside the envelope – not only once but several times – before he set them down and shook his head. So... if this thing wasn’t lying... this house, yard, car... everything was his? A perfect little paradise. A ‘home away from home’ if that damned card hadn’t been deceiving him when he’d read it. If he was completely honest with himself the idea didn’t sound awful, but he pushed the idea from his head for now and back to things as they stood.

There was a logical explanation for this. Dream, Hallucination... something. Nothing could be THIS perfect, could it?
